Want to reverse age spots?
You can reverse age spots with IPL broadband light. Broadband light is commonly referred to as IPL or intense pulsed light. These types of treatments may also be called laser skin rejuvenation, photorejuvenation, photofacial or laser resurfacing. It is a treatment modality that has been around for quite some time, and nowadays used successfully to treat a variety of conditions. Most commonly, conditions such as age spots, sunspots, fine lines and wrinkles, and vascular lesions are the targets for BBL. Almost any pigmented lesion can be treated using this safe and non-invasive method, even bruising after a different procedure. Some practices use IPL for laser hair removal, but we find that it does not work as well as a dedicated hair removal laser.
What makes BBL better at CAMI?
The term Broadband Light (BBL) was invented by a company called Sciton which is the Cadillac in the laser and IPL cosmetic equipment industry. They coined the term BBL Forever Young after it was discovered by two dermatologists that BBL treatments stimulate collagen production in patients. In most people, collagen production genes turn off as early as their 30’s. It was a revolutionary discovery to find a noninvasive modality that turns gene expression on for collagen production. Although the device was originally designed to target pigmented and vascular lesions, the result in increased collagen production was an amazing discovery and desirable benefit. At CAMI we only use Sciton BBL to treat our patients because of these advantages.
What is the downtime to reverse age spots?
Generally with BBL treatments there is very little to no downtime. Patients can usually resume their normal activities the next day and can wear makeup.
Is there pain associated with the procedure?
There is minimal pain associated with this procedure, and most patients describe it as a small rubber band snap against the face when the laser is fired. Most patients tolerate this procedure without using any type of numbing medication, however topical numbing agents are available upon request to reverse age spots
Is this procedure safe?
This procedure is extremely safe when done by experienced personnel. Your aesthetic provider should understand fully laser and IPL dynamics. In the wrong hands, like most procedures, they can actually be quite dangerous. Patients need to be out of the sun prior to the procedure, and stay out of the sun for several weeks after the procedure making fall and winter popular seasons for this procedure. Interestingly, this procedure can be done in the summer if patients use medical-grade sunblock and follow instructions to stay out of direct sunlight exposure.
How much does it cost?
There is a wide variation on the cost this procedure depending on whether you buy a single treatment or a package. We recommend buying in a package because not only are the results better for pigmented in vascular lesions, but also you start to establish collagen production which leads to a substantially more youthful appearance. Most practices will range from $200-$500 depending on the size of the treatment area and treatment team expertise. Contact CAMI for more information about how to reverse age spots.
