Hair Transplantation Clinic in Huntersville, NC

Hair loss can impact patients of all ages, including men and women alike. Thinning hair can be discouraging and may even cause you to lose some of your self-confidence, but the good news is that hair loss can be addressed through a number of treatment options. The Carolina Age Management Institute (CAMI) is a leading hair transplantation clinic, proudly providing hope to clients throughout Huntersville and Charlotte, NC.

We invite you to learn more about why Dr. Giordano is the best hair transplant doctor in the region.

How Does Hair Transplantation Work?

Hair transplantation is a process in which hair is taken from one area of the scalp and placed in an area where the hair is significantly sparse or even bald. This is most often at the top of the head and around the temples or in the crown. With hair transplantations, once the procedure is complete and healed, hair continues to grow.  Generally, this is a permanent solution for hair loss once the procedure is completed.

There are different procedures for hair transplantation. At Carolina Age Management Institute, Dr. Giordano uses the following treatments:

  • Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). FUE is a procedure where follicles are taken from the back of the head one at a time and transplanted to areas with sparse amounts of hair.
  • Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). With PRP, the patient’s own plasma is used to stimulate the hair follicles and promote regrowth. PRP is also used in conjunction with other hair transplantation and restoration treatments or as a standalone therapy for hair restoration. If PRP is used to enhance your hair restoration, your own plasma is used to stimulate hair follicles and promote regrowth. This requires blood to be drawn, the plasma to be separated out, then placed into the area being treated.

In addition to hair transplants, we are also proud to offer a number of minimally invasive and even non-invasive treatments. Depending on the extent of your hair loss, getting a transplant may or may not be the best option. To find out more about the different options, visit our hair transplant clinic at any time.

How Can I Prepare for My Hair Transplant?

Preparing varies with each procedure and each patient. Prior to the transplantation, we will provide detailed instructions based on each patient’s procedure.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Hair Transplant?

If you are experiencing significant hair loss and want to fill in areas of your head where hair is sparse or bald, hair transplantation may be right for you. It is important to have dense amounts of hair at the donor site to transplant so that those areas do not look sparse.

When you visit our hair transplant clinic for a consultation, we will verify that you are a good candidate for a safe, successful procedure. Generally speaking, the best candidates for hair transplantation:

  • Have moderate to extreme hair loss.
  • Are in good physical health overall.
  • Do not have any conditions that impede healing.
  • Do not have any untreated scalp conditions.
  • Have talked with their doctor and have realistic expectations.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect?

As with any procedure or treatment, patients want to know what kind of results they can expect from their hair restoration therapy and when they will see a difference. It does take some time to see results, usually anywhere from a few months to a full year. Your hair in the area that underwent the transplant will actually fall out around two to eight weeks after your transplant. Then, new regrowth occurs shortly thereafter.

If you have questions about your results, or how to care for your head after hair restoration therapy, be sure to discuss it with your doctor. They will be able to discuss, in detail, what you need to do to prepare, your recovery process, and what to expect along the way.

What is Hair Transplant Recovery Like?

After your hair restoration treatment of a hair transplant, you will need to take a day or two to rest, as local anesthesia is used during the treatment. You should also avoid washing your hair or wearing a head covering for 24 hours after the procedure. Finally, avoid strenuous exercise for a week or two, depending on Dr. Giordano’s instructions.

Be aware that you need to give your hair time to grow after your procedure. You will start to see results over time as your hair starts to grow in its newly-acquired home.

How Much Does it Cost to Get a Hair Transplant?

The costs are different for each patient. The selected procedure, the extent of the area where the transplantation is to be done, and how many treatments are needed to achieve the desired look are all factors in establishing the cost. At Carolina Age Management Institute, we accept cash, credit cards, and checks as payment options. We also offer financing through CareCredit®.

Does Getting a Hair Transplant Hurt?

It’s natural to have some concerns about the surgical experience at any hair transplantation clinic, but please rest assured that patient comfort and safety are our top priorities at CAMI. We’re happy to provide the sedation options you need for a pain-free experience.

How Long Does the Procedure Take?

While some hair transplant methods can take up to 12 hours, our hair transplant clinic uses best-in-class technologies and advanced methods that allow us to complete the procedure in a fraction of that time. The specific timeline will depend on the surgical method, and on the extent of your hair loss.
