What are facial fillers made of?

Fillers and injectables are of various types and are categorized by the contents of each substance.

Injectable dermal fillers that use Hyaluronic Acid (HA) helps hydrate the skin and make it plump. HA fillers are gel-like and the results last for six to twelve months.

Another type of injectable facial filler is calcium hydroxyapatite which is a naturally occurring substance found in our bones. The CAHA filler is thicker than the hyaluronic acid filler, it is also more consistent and long-lasting. calcium hydroxyapatite fillers help stimulate collagen production in the body and last for up to twelve months.

Injectable fillers also use the Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) filler for treatment. The PMMA is a synthetic substance that takes the form of a microsphere and remains in the skin for a long time.

Fight The Signs of Aging with Facial Injectables

When you want to reduce wrinkles around the forehead and eyes:

If you are concerned about lines in your forehead or wrinkles around your eyes, Botox® or Dysport® may be the ideal treatment for you. Both of these injections target the muscles around your eyes to reduce folding and wrinkling. Additionally, Dysport® only targets the specific muscles in question, leaving the rest of your face to be as expressive as ever – no one will even know you had the treatment done.

When you want to reduce fat under the chin and define your jawline:

Fillers and injectables come in many types and Kybella is the first injectable of its kind. It’s an FDA approved treatment for double chin. To destroy the fat cells below the chin, Kybella is injected into the fat cells in that location. Kybella treatment can differ from one patient to another depending on the exact location and amount of fat needed. Kybella is also used in the bra fat area — this is a treatment called Brabella or Armbella. This fat is also as hard to lose as that of the double chin fat but can be effectively targeted with Kybella.

When you’re tired of looking at smile lines and laugh lines:

Nasolabial folds (smile lines) can be a problem area for many seeking to maintain a youthful appearance. They also tend to be a bit deeper than some other light wrinkles and lines, so they often fall under the moderate to severe classification. Restylane® and VOLLURE™ are two fillers that are capable of reducing the appearance of folds and laugh lines by adding volume where it is needed most.

When you feel link your face looks “sunken” and “shallow”:

Whether you have recently lost a lot of weight or your face is losing elasticity due to age, you may consider a treatment that restores volume by plumping up the right areas of your face. Facial fillers and injectables could be exactly what you need. JUVÉDERM® has a line of products, including Voluma® that use hyaluronic acid to restore your face’s natural glow. For those who prefer to repurpose fat from their own bodies, fat transfers and injections remove fat from an area where it is not wanted and place it somewhere that could use a small boost.

How Do Dermal Fillers in Charlotte, NC Work?

Dermal fillers are injected into the targeted area where there are fine lines, wrinkles, folds, and creases. Depending on the filler and the area treated, it may be injected into the surface layers of the skin or the deeper layers. Most appointments for these treatments take no more than an hour and are often performed at lunchtime so that people can return to work.

Reasons why facial fillers and injectables are popular

Today, facial fillers and other injectables are very popular. It’s no longer a secret! They’re now more popular than any other cosmetic surgery in many cases. However, their popularity comes with several reasons which include:

  1. Quick and visible results

The Botox effect takes place in less than a week, Juvéderm effects are right away. Kybella offers relatively rapid results and differences are usually visible after either one or two sessions.

  1. Youthful skin look

With aging comes wrinkles, sagging, etc.… which leaves many patients unhappy with their appearance. Fillers offer younger-looking skin without surgery. Get back that youthful look in a non-invasive way.

  1. There’s no downtime.

There’s no recovery time needed after you get fillers. Most patients resume their normal routine right away.

  1. The treatment is quick.

Fillers can be done in minutes. You can even book an appointment on your lunch break, have your injection and go back to work if you want to.

  1. It isn’t painful.

Most filler patients say that they are pain-free, or cause only mild temporary discomfort at most. Fillers are painless due to the thinnest of needles used to precisely deliver the product.

The preparation involved is easy and only involves cleaning the area(s) where the injections are made.

A clinician may take pictures prior to the treatments to use as a comparison. While there is little to no discomfort during the treatment, a numbing cream may be applied if necessary prior to the injection.

There is no “recovery” per se. Most patients return to their daily routine immediately following their treatments. Any redness or slight swelling at the injection site typically resolves itself within 24 hours.

What are the costs?

Cost depends on the type of filler or injectable used, how many injections are required and whether treatments are combined with other medical spa services.

We accept cash, checks, and major credit cards. We also offer financing with CareCredit®.

Are They Right for Me?

If you are uncomfortable with wrinkles and fine lines that seem to be noticeable, or if you want to maintain a more youthful appearance without going through invasive cosmetic surgery procedures that require weeks of recovery, these treatments may be right for you.

Dermal Fillers Charlotte NC FAQ’s

What are dermal fillers, facial fillers and injectables?
Fillers and injectables are a type of cosmetic treatment. This treatment is minimally invasive and involves treating targeted areas by injecting some type of solution to solve a problem. There are many types of fillers and injectables, but at Carolina Age Management Institute (CAMI) we most commonly use Botox, Juvéderm, and Kybella.
How do facial fillers and injectables work?
The way fillers and injectables work depends on the type being used and what it is being used to treat. Most, however, involves injecting a solution into a targeted area to improve its appearance. For example, Botox works by being injected into an area with wrinkles. This solution freezes the muscle so they cannot furrow. Your provider will be able to give you details on how what they are using for you works, before your treatment.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for my injectables treatment?
Luckily, there isn’t a whole lot you need to do to prepare for. The prep work will be done in the office. Before treatment, a clinician will clean the area that is being treated, take photos, and may even apply a numbing cream to keep you as comfortable as possible.
What does dermal fillers and injectables aftercare entail?
Following your treatment, you need to make sure you take care of the area and your skin. Though you may experience slight redness afterward, you can return to your normal skincare routine almost right after. Your provider can recommend products to help keep your skin in top shape between treatments.
How long do facial fillers and dermal fillers last?
That depends on the area being treated and the type of injectable being used. On average, this can last anywhere from three to six months. If you have questions about how long you can expect your treatment to last, ask before your treatment.
