Meet Our Staff
Brenda Armstrong BSN, MS, ANP-BC – Master Aesthetic Injector
Brenda is a board certified Adult Nurse Practitioner graduate of the University of Connecticut. She has over 25 years of nursing experience in surgery, OB/GYN and Aesthetics. However, she has spent the last 15 years specializing as a master aesthetic injector of Neurotoxins and Dermal Fillers. She meticulously discusses and prepares an individualized plan with each client and the anti-aging results achieved are what keeps clients coming back year after year. Prior to working at Carolina Age Management Institute, Brenda worked for many years in a Dermatology and MedSpa business serving as the National Clinical Director where she was very instrumental in
the growth and development of this major aesthetic institution.
Brenda brings with her to CAMI strong leadership, management and operational skills, expertise in surgical and aesthetic services, as well as 15 years of injectable services. She is very excited to bring these skills to CAMI so she can continue to provide excellent service and quality work to our patients.
In her free time, Brenda enjoys traveling, going to the beach and off-roading in their Jeep with her fiance Bobby. She also stays busy with her goat farm and repurposing antiques.
Marlee Matlock, Physician Assistant – Aesthetic Specialist
Marlee grew up in the Lake Norman community, graduating from South Iredell High School. She then attended Hendrix College in Arkansas where she played Volleyball on the Warriors 2015 NCAA Division III Final Four team, and earned three Conference Championships. While competing, she also completed a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences while frequently appearing on the Dean’s List. Graduating from St. Ambrose University’s Physician Assistant program completes her post graduate training during which she completed an Plastics rotation with Dr. G. and the CAMI family–it was a perfect fit! Delighted to return home, she is excited to join CAMI’s practice as a full-service Plastics PA and looks forward to helping CAMI’s clients be the best version of themselves.
Marlee and her Bernedoodle, Bernice, enjoy the lake life and hiking all of the wonderful nature North Carolina provides. Marlee intends to expand her wine tasting expertise in her spare time!
Leanny Bowen – Certified Medical Assistant
Leanny Bowen is a Certified Medical Assistant with 5 years of experience and is continuing her education in healthcare to one day become a nurse. She comes from a background of management and patient care experience in numerous different settings that range from Orthopedic, Pulmonology, and Internal Medicine, to Urology and Dermatology. She began her career in healthcare at Onslow Memorial Hospital and has worked alongside highly reputable physicians and surgeons.
You will see Leanny during your preoperative visits as well as assisting Dr. Giordano with follow-up appointments and in-office procedures. She is always available to our patients to help answer any questions and strives to provide the best care possible. Leanny is fluent in Spanish and when needed works closely with our Spanish speaking patients.
Leanny is dedicated to creating unforgettable experiences with every visit, and long-lasting relationships with our patients. Every patient is a priority, and she considers it her personal responsibility to provide individualized care for each person. Outside of the practice, Leanny enjoys spending time with her husband, a former Marine Raider and Special Operations veteran, and their three children. She has a strong passion for health and fitness, and you can often find her promoting this lifestyle online or at the gym, as well as assisting others who feel the same.
Annie Nielsen – Medical Assistant
Annie came to Carolina Age Management Institute as a licensed medical assistant after many years of experience in the field. She previously worked at an aesthetic practice in the Lake Norman area prior to joining our team. Annie is a hustler, and treats all of our patients like family. She mainly assists Dr. G and the team with our injectable and surgical patients.
Kelly Culicerto – Master Aesthetician
Originally from West Virginia, Kelly joined Carolina Age Management after training to be a licensed Medical Aesthetician in Columbia, South Carolina. She was hired by Carolina Age Management Institute, and has consistently proved over the past year that she has true talent caring for her patient’s skin. Kelly specializes in chemical peels, microdermabrasion such as Hydrafacial, microneedling, and laser procedures.
Kelly’s enthusiasm for Aesthetics, as well as her kind, caring, and accommodating nature is what makes patients feel at ease during their treatments.
Debbie Muhammad BSN, RN – OR Nurse Manager
Debbie serves as the Operating Room Nurse Manager for the Carolina Age Management Surgery Center, and her job focuses on maintaining full AAAHC accreditation for the surgical facility as well as putting patient safety first. Prior to joining CAMI, Debbie worked as an integral part of a well known plastic surgery practice in the Charlotte region. Her skill set is well honed to take comprehensive care of our surgical patients, and she is our surgical patient’s best friend.
Debbie lives with her husband and family in the Charlotte region.
Jerray Efird – Front Office Coordinator
Jerray is truly our most unique personality at CAMI, and our patients absolutely love her. Jerray know a little, and sometimes a lot, about almost every patient who walks through out door. She makes it her personal mission to genuinely take an interest in the lives of each and every patient who come to our practice.
She worked for OrthoCarolina in a variety of Administrative positions for 14 years, and subsequently became a Business Office Manager for 3 years prior to joining CAMI in 2017. Overall, she has over 18 years in the healthcare industry.
Jerray live in the Lake Norman area with her daughter Elena.
Melinda Stevens – CFO
Her pragmatic, action-oriented style inspires people to apply common sense and business rigor to improve profitability, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
Melinda’s wisdom comes from decades of consulting, coaching, and training numerous physicians, managers, and staff from coast to coast. Primarily an advisor to neurology, surgical specialists in orthopedics, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, otolaryngology, and vascular surgery, as well as dermatology, Melinda’s expertise encompasses all areas of practice management, from marketing, financial management, and operational efficiency to leadership and governance, human resource, online reputation management, and social media strategy. She has 20 years experience in CEO/CFO roles, with a specialty in finance, marketing, operations, and leadership. In addition, she successfully manages multiple divisions outside the medical sector to include property management, IT and hospitality.
Melinda received her MBA from Vanderbilt. Despite becoming a Respiratory Therapist early in her career, and almost pursing medical school she ultimatley chose the business route. We, at CAMI, are certainly happy she did as she is the glue that holds us all together.
Melinda lives with her husband Barry and their 2 children, Tyler and Kyndall, in the Lake Norman area.
