Dermal Fillers Before and After Pictures in Charlotte, NC

Dermal fillers and injectables are two increasingly common treatments our patients enjoy. They are used to help treat one of the most common concerns among aging men and women: wrinkles and fine lines.

Wrinkles and fine lines are common as we age, but can leave patients feeling less than their best. So, many turns to treatments like dermal fillers and injectables to reduce their appearance or eliminate them all together.

Fillers and injectables, the similarities

What is the difference between dermal fillers and injectables? Or are they the same? We’ll answer this question, and more, below.

Let’s start with what makes these two treatments the same. Dermal fillers and injectables can be used by dermatologists and plastic surgeons to fight signs of aging. When used appropriately, they can leave patients with younger looking skin, and in turn, increased confidence, as you can see in our face fillers before and after photos above.

The difference

Though face fillers and injectables both work to improve skin’s appearance, they go about it in different ways. That is what makes them different.

Fillers, such as dermal fillers, are used to fill in areas of the face using things such as hyaluronic acid. By injecting fillers into areas of concern, the skin if plumped up and firmed, which reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Injectables work a little differently. Let’s look at one of the most common injectables, Botox, for an example. This involves injecting the Botox into the area, which then freezes and paralyzes the muscle causing the wrinkles. Kybella, another popular injectable, is injected and used to break down fat cells in the neck.

Which is for you?

Though fillers and injectables are similar and can be used to treat similar concerns, they are slightly different. That means it is important to use the treatment option that is right for you. But, don’t worry, you won’t have to make that decision.

Your dermatologist will be able to decide if fillers and injectables are a good option for you, and if so, which one. With many different types of fillers and injectables on the market, they will be able to determine what one will give you the best results.

Injectables for the Lips

Injectables are our recommended treatment for adding natural-looking volume to the lips. They are a great option for full, natural lips. These products contain naturally occurring molecules that are responsible for plumping the skin and retaining hydration. When injected into the lips, these specially designed formulas add long-lasting volume to the lips that both look and feel natural. Lip injections are an ideal treatment for many patients because it is quickly performed and doesn’t require any downtime. After a couple of comfortable injections, patients are free to resume work and other normal activities, often with results already visible.

Lip Injections Results

Lip injections provide near-instant results. See above for lip filler before and after photos. Immediately upon injection, patients will notice an increase in volume in the lips. Some patients may experience mild swelling or redness around the treatment area for a few days following their treatment, but this typically fades on its own and should not impact your results.

Lip injections are proven to last up to a year or longer. During this time, patients can enjoy naturally voluptuous lips that complement the rest of their facial features. After this time, patients can easily receive additional treatments to maintain their results.
