Hair loss or thinning is an issue facing a large number of men and women. It can be incredibly embarrassing and also damaging to self-esteem. At Carolina Age Management Institute, we have prided ourselves on offering the best hair restoration treatments, and we’ve just taken things up a notch. ARTAS™ robotic hair restoration is now available in our Huntersville office.
How Does ARTAS™ Work?
ARTAS™ is an interactive, physician-directed, computer-assisted hair restoration method that, due to robotic speed and precision, minimizes scarring, fatigue, and human error.
Like other hair transplant methods, the ARTAS™ machine removes healthy follicles from a donor area and transplants them into the area experiencing hair loss. The robot defines the donor area with a small frame and then targets a selection of dispersed follicles within that area. The machine selects each unit specifically, only harvesting what is needed. This method leaves enough follicles behind to maintain a natural appearance in the donor area.
What are the Benefits?
The ARTAS™ method is minimally invasive. Unlike other hair transplant procedures, this one leads to no linear scarring or an obvious plug-like appearance. Both the hairline and the donor area are left looking aesthetically natural.
The procedure is done using local anesthesia, making the whole process virtually pain-free. The combination of robotic precision and a personalized, human touch nearly eliminates the possibility of error. Preexisting healthy hair follicles will remain undamaged due to the machine’s ability to target and select specific follicles for transplant.
After the treatment, hair can be styled virtually any way. ARTAS™ does not create the same scars or plug-like appearance that other transplant methods do. Patients are able to keep their hair short, don high fades, or wear their hair the way they normally would.
What Does ARTAS™ Recovery Look Like?
An ARTAS™ patient can get back to their normal activities within a few days. Most patients are able to sleep comfortably on the donor area, unlike with other hair transplant methods. Pain can be treated with over the counter medications such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
